Video: Roy Jones Jr. talks ‘hammers and nails’ boxing match with Mike Tyson; still open to Anderson Silva fight

If you asked Roy Jones Jr. five years ago if he would fight Mike Tyson in 2020, he’d compare it to asking him if he would become heavyweight champion in 1988 – he would never have believed it to be possible.

But on Sept. 12, Jones Jr. will face Tyson in an eight-round exhibition bout at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif.

The former four-division world champion and two-time Olympic silver medalist joined MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck to discuss the matchup with Tyson, how the fight came together, how refreshing it was to have the negotiations go smoothly, the biggest sacrifice he is making in preparation, his explanation of what he expects this exhibition bout to look like, being involved in MMA, the potential of a future boxing match with Anderson Silva, and more.
