USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA rankings, Dec. 4: Kamaru Usman makes huge leap

Kamaru Usman made a strong impression on UFC President Dana White with his dominance of Rafael dos Anjos. “The Nigerian Nightmare” also has made major moves in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie welterweight rankings.

Following his unanimous-decision win at The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale this past weekend, Usman climbs five spots from No. 8 to No. 3, sitting only behind champion Tyron Woodley and top contender Colby Covington. In the process, Usman leapfrogged dos Anjos, Robbie Lawler, Stephen Thompson, Bellator champion Rory MacDonald and Darren Till.

Usman is now 14-1 and owns a 13-fight winning streak, which includes a 9-0 record in the UFC.

Also of note from the rankings, former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua finds himself back in the rankings after a knockout win over Tyson Pedro at UFC FIght Night 142.
