The UFC Vegas 8 prelims on ESPN still managed to land in the top 15 rated programs for this past Saturday on cable.

The broadcast, which actually kicked off on ESPN at 6:14 p.m. ET averaged 564,000 viewers with the prelims headlined by recent Contender Series winner Impa Kasanganay defeating Maki Pitolo in a middleweight fight. The card also earned a .19 in the coveted 18-49 year old demographic.

The main card aired exclusively on ESPN+, which is a subscription-based service, so those broadcast numbers are not available.

While only the prelims aired on ESPN, it’s still a good result for the UFC as the promotion continues to make waves ever since returning to action following the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The UFC has routinely landed in the top five broadcasts for cable on Saturday night with many events taking the No. 1 position overall.

The last preliminary card to air on ESPN was back in July for the show that featured Robert Whittaker vs. Darren Till in the main event. Those prelims started at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN with an average of 483,000 viewers.

This past Saturday night, the UFC was No. 14 overall with the NBA playoffs dominating the night with the top five slots including three games, a pre-game show and Inside the NBA post-game show. The top game of the day was the Los Angeles Lakers eliminating the Portland Trailblazers from the playoffs with an average of 2.924 million viewers.
