Henry Cejudo’s callout of Valentina Shevchenko is ‘the wackiest sh*t’ Dana White’s ever heard

“You take a street fight, Ronda wins that fight and hurts him badly. You do an MMA fight, same result. Boxing match, Floyd Mayweather chews her up.”

That was UFC president Dana White in May 2014, at the height of Ronda Rousey’s popularity, talking about how Rousey would beat up Floyd Mayweather if they ever fought – which was an absurd thing to say back then and still remains to this day.

Fast forward a little more than five years, and White is completely baffled by UFC men’s flyweight champion Henry Cejudo actually calling for a fight with his female counterpart, Valentina Shevchenko, and wanting to become the promotion’s first “intergender” champion LOL.

“That’s the wackiest shit I’ve ever heard,” White told reporters, including MMA Junkie, on Tuesday night in Las Vegas. “It’s just (expletive) crazy that Henry would say that. But Valentina would probably do it. I don’t even know how to respond to that or what to say other than ‘wow.'”

We agree on two things: It’s absolutely wacky – some would call it cringe – for a male fighter to call out a female fighter, No. 1. And No. 2, yeah, Shevchencko probably would do it.

But we definitely don’t need to see it.

As for who White would put his money on in a champion vs. champion showdown, he had no answer when asked.

“I can’t even (expletive) wrap my brain around that, why he would say that,” White said. ” It’s just crazy, but … what are you gonna do?”

Those were my thoughts exactly when White said what he said about Rousey and Mayweather five years ago. At least he’s come to his senses on this one.
