Chuck Liddell reveals official date and venue for Tito Ortiz trilogy fight

Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz 3 finally has an official date and venue.

The trilogy fight between the two UFC Hall of Famers is slated to take place Nov. 24 at The Forum in Inglewood, California, under the banner of Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.

Liddell revealed the news Wednesday in an interview on Larry King Now. MMA Fighting previously reported that Golden Boy Promotions had filed an application with the California State Athletic Commission for an event to be held Nov. 24 at The Forum in Inglewood with Liddell and Ortiz as the main attraction, however the fight had yet to be made official.

A legendary former UFC light heavyweight champion, the 48-year-old Liddell announced his intentions to return to MMA this past May in an interview with MMA Fighting. From the start, Liddell said he was targeting a third fight against his old Octagon rival, fellow former light heavyweight champion Ortiz.

Liddell and Ortiz had a heated staredown in July prior to the UFC’s annual Hall of Fame ceremony in Las Vegas. Video of that staredown can be seen above.

Liddell (21-8) has not fought professionally since 2010. He has twice defeated Ortiz in the past, first knocking out “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” in a non-title affair in 2004, then repeating the favor to successfully defend his light heavyweight strap in 2006.

Ortiz (19-12-1) retired in Jan. 2017 following a first-round victory over Chael Sonnen under the Bellator umbrella. At the time of his exit, Ortiz had won three of his last four fights.

Liddell’s full interview with King will air Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. PT on Hulu and Ora TV.
