Bettor gets $20,000 after 20-year-old Kay Hansen wins debut at UFC on ESPN 12

A big-time bettor got it right Saturday with a wager deep on the UFC on ESPN 12 undercard.

According to sports business reporter Darren Rovell, an anonymous gambler placed a $37,000 bet to win $20,000 on 20-year-old UFC newcomer Kay Hansen to defeat former Invicta FC champ Jin Yu Frey at Saturday’s UFC event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Hansen (7-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) defeated Frey, who was also making her UFC debut, via armbar at 2:26 of the third round of their strawweight contest. It was a close fight all the way to the finishing sequence.

Hansen lost the first round after failing to get the fight to the ground and taking solid strikes from Frey. Things started to go Hansen’s way in the second, as she was able to get the fight to the ground and control the action there. In the third, Hansen did got Frey down and was able to sink in an arm-bar to get the tap.

Hansen now finds herself in a three-fight winning streak. And she earned praise from a former UFC champion who also knows a thing or two about armbars:
