As expected, Henry Cejudo doesn’t *really* want to fight Valentina Shevchenko

If you’ve been bothered by Henry Cejudo calling for a fight with Valentina Shevchenko, don’t let it bother you anymore.

None of it is real.

That should’ve already been understood and yet, there’s been some genuine social media outrage because of UFC dual champion Cejudo’s supposed desire to become the first “intergender” champ.

But let me repeat: It’s all just part of a gimmick, folks.

On Wednesday night, somewhere in Abu Dhabi, Cejudo and UFC women’s flyweight champ Shevchenko, both guest fighters at UFC 242, were in the same place. In a since-deleted Instagram post, they were seen staging a faceoff, followed up some playful interaction with Shevchenko putting Cejudo in a rear-naked choke as they laughed.

“No mas! No mas!” Cejudo could be heard saying.

Here’s the faceoff:

And here’s Shevchenko putting him in a choke:

So there you have it. A simple matter of the “King of Cringe” at his cringiest best worst. I know Cejudo’s repeated callouts to fight a woman have rubbed some people the wrong way – and I get it – but now we know he wasn’t being serious.

We can all finally move on from this. Please.

The Blue Corner is MMA Junkie’s blog space. We don’t take it overly serious, and neither should you. If you come complaining to us that something you read here is not hard-hitting news, expect to have the previous sentence repeated in ALL CAPS.
